Quick introduction to what water-fed pole window cleaning is: In simple terms, it means that we have big water tank on the van, which is filled before each days work with ultra pure water. This is not like tap water, which in Colchester, Stanway has a TDS reading of 478, I tested this today from the kitchen tap with a special TDS water tester, while I was prepping my morning cup of coffee.
Okay, so what is TDS? Total dissolved solids (TDS) comprise inorganic salts, magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium, bicarbonates, chlorides, and sulfates and some small amounts of organic matter that are dissolved in water.
Our pure water for cleaning your glass, frames, sills, and doors has a TDS value of 0.00, so it's ultra pure, as its had a process of filtration what removes all of the above.
From the van, the ultra pure water is pumped through 100 feet of micro-bore hose, which is on a heavy duty reel. From the hose, there is a telescopic pole attached with a special window cleaning brush at the end of it. Water is then pumped up the pole through the brush and onto your frames, glass, and sills. No ladders are needed, so this method is very safe. Having done traditional window cleaning and the water fed pole method, I can say the pure water method is superior in every way.
"Okay Dean, so what is all this about reaching new heights?" Hold on, as I'm getting to that. When we started the business in 2020, we had limited funds. We bought one pole, which has a working height of around 25ft. With many of the new builds, we have faced a problem that some have 3 stories, and also have sky-lights on the roof. Bummer.
This week we took delivery of a new pole from a UK company called Gardiners, who specialize in making water fed poles, brushes etc. This new carbon fiber pole will handle 95% or more of all domestic homes. So we are happy to now offer our services to including those taller homes, sky lights on the roof, and even Solar panels. I will write another post on Solar panels, as they deserve a separate blog post.
Investing in the best equipment is very important to us, even though the pole cost a lot of hard earned money, but it did come with a free beanie hat, so hats off to you Gardiners UK.
That's all for now.
