2020 till now has been a strange and saddening time for us all, not only as a nation but for the world as a whole.
In March last year, I was furloughed, and Dean was unable to work as a personal trainer, as all of the gyms closed. With all the stress and worry, we did have one thing on our side, time. We decided to turn what was an extremely negative time into a positive by following our dream to create and run our own business.
We used the time to brainstorm what business we could build that would allow us to work during the pandemic and allow both our customers and us to stay safe. Dean had previously owned a window cleaning company, but at the time decided to follow another passion, personal training and fitness. So he knew what to do to start up a new window cleaning business.
In June we had a lucky break, a company called Spotless opened a filling station in Colchester, which allowed us to start a window cleaning business, as producing large quantities of purified water from a flat was not an option. Using pure water is the safest and most efficient way to clean windows, frames, sills and doors.
There were times when we worked around the clock. We regularly woke up in the early hours of the morning with an idea for the business. While most of those slept peacefully around us, we would fire up the computer and put the idea in motion.
For the next month we worked tirelessly to create our website, the leaflets, and a strategic plan on how to grow the business.
On 18th July 2020, we launched our website with a celebratory glass of wine.
The next week the leaflets arrived, and we walked what felt like a thousand miles to deliver them all. We soon had phone calls and online forms submitted. It was an amazing feeling that we had managed to turn what was such a negative time into something special.
When we first started, we used our faithful little beast, Nelly the fiat panda!
Despite searching it wasn’t until September that we finally manged to locate a van. The sales of vans had massively increased due to a surge in demand, as more and more people who were furloughed or been made redundant turned to deliveries to earn money.
We proudly brought the new van home, named her Nelly 2. We immediately set to work buying the equipment needed to turn her into a fully operational window cleaning van.
And here we are now, a year later…
It's been an exciting journey, filled with many highs and the inevitable lows.
We still walk miles delivering leaflets, regularly update the website and continue to develop our skills to provide the best possible experience for our customers.
We have loved each and every moment of creating Pure Wash Window Cleaning and that love has only grown in strength throughout the year.
We would like to thank our customers for their regular custom. Your wonderful reviews and recommendations has allowed our little business to grow and flourish.
Happy Birthday Pure Wash.
